Geothermal Heat Pump Electric Heater Documents
Most of the Bosch/FHP heat pump models allow for the installation of optional internal electric heat strips for auxiliary or back up heat. Heat kits come in 4 sizes; 5kw, 10kw, 15kw, and 20kw. (heat kits in the 7.5kw size were discontinued in 2014)
Internal Heat strips can be installed at the factory prior to shipping for commercial models or installed into the unit in the field by the contractor.
Models allowing for Field Installed Heat kits:
Residential Models: SM, CE, and BP (instruction docs below)
(since 2019, factory installed heat kits are no longer an option in residential package models)
Models allowing for Factory Installation of heat kits:
Residential Models: SM air handlers
Commercial Models: LM, EP, and ES
The LV, SV, QV, and WQ models are too small to fit an internal heat kit. Auxiliary heat can be provided by the field installation of a duct heater. (Instruction docs below)
